| I am a graduate student in philosophy. My principle interests are in epistemology and philosophy of science. I also have a very strong interest in philosophy of physics; however this interest is handicapped by the slow pace at which I learn math. I have interests in metaphysics, philosophy of perception, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mind, but only as far as they advance my interest in epistemology and philosophy of science. I also do some meta-ethics and am becoming increasingly interested in the justification of government.
The two philosophers that have influenced me the most are Aristotle and Ayn Rand. But that isn't to say I haven't been influenced by any other historical or contemporary philosophers. I've recently been appreciating Jesse Prinz's work on concepts and John Norton's work on induction. I've also learned quite a bit studying Locke. I am looking forward to studying Aquinas and Thomas Reid in the coming months, as soon as I finish with my current Aristotle study.
I'll be using livejournal to write my thoughts on all the philosophy I read. Often times paper assignments don't allow me to fully express my thinking on the topic, so I'll put that all on here for your consumption. |
